We are pleased to announce we are taking part in year 3 of English My Way. This programme has been set up to help women who are beginners of English ESOL and will be running in Sharrow. As part of being a research partner for the Tinder Foundation’s English My Way programme our staff and students have taken part in case studies. Last week the Tinder Foundation came down to the centre to take some photos and carry out a few interviews. Below are a few of the photos they took of Barbara and her class.

We are now enrolling for our 12 weeks IELTS course for the Spring term. The first session is January 6th and will run on Tuesday at 9:30 and Thursday at 10:30. The cost of the course is £240. Learn for Life Enterprise was one of only two organisations chosen from over 500 community organisations across the UK to take part in the ‘Celebrating Success English My Way’ video. The video was shown last week at the BBC Broadcasting House in London and was met with a fantastic response from English My Way funders and stakeholders.

The BBC come to Learn for Life

On Thursday 9th October we welcomed the BBC to Learn for Life to run a training workshop for teachers and volunteers. We were introduced to the newly developed Learning Circles resources which we will be starting to use in our centre to help individuals learn English.
The BBC, along with the British Council and the Tinder Foundation, have developed fun, multimedia English-teaching lessons at a very low level for immigrant communities in the UK. The purpose is to help people with very little English to gain the confidence and ability to make the first step to learning English.
