Volunteer feature in the Sheffield Star

We are in the Sheffield Star today with a feature about our volunteers. Our volunteers are essential and do an amazing job at Learn for Life Enterprise – thank you for celebrating them!

Voting has closed!

Thank you very much to everyone who voted, pledged, shared and joined our voting party during the M&S competition. Your support is very much appreciated! We will find out the results of the competition the week commencing 6th November and will update you then.

Thank you Google!

Earlier in the year Google visited Learn for Life Enterprise as part of their market research bringing a team of experts from around the world to the centre to talk to our staff and students. This week we received an unexpected box of donations and a thank you letter from Google. This is an extract from the letter:

“The team really appreciated the opportunity to meet with yourself, staff and learners, and hear about their challenges and successes around digital skills – your work inspired us all and has informed the way we’re looking at growing how we reach and train people in Sheffield and beyond.”

The donations will be very useful to the centre and will help to engage students with digital skills. Many thanks for your kind donation Google!

Art as a Second Language

We are running “Art as a Second Language” in partnership with Sheffield Museums and Galleries. Today was our first session and we had a great turn out. If you’d like to come along to the next one it is 9th November 2pm at the Millenium Galleries. Everyone welcome – speakers with English as a second or first language.

Dates for 2017:

9th November 2pm at Millenium Galleries

7th December 2pm at Weston Park

Join us for “Art as a Second Language”

We are running our first “Art as a Second Language” session at Graves Art Gallery this Thursday 5th October at 2pm. Meet us at the entrance – everyone welcome!

“Each session will focus on a different site and Sheffield’s amazing collection of Art, Social History, Natural History, Metalwork and so much more.

If you would like to improve your English, this session is a perfect place to meet new people and talk in a friendly, welcoming environment. If English is your first language, join us for a chance to view our collection in a whole new light.”
