We were very happy to be invited to watch the new production of The Crucible at The Crucible theatre in Sheffield. 30 members of the Learn for Life community went along to see the dress rehearsal and 14 avoided the camera! Many thanks to Sheffield theatres for inviting us to come along. We thought the acting was excellent and the symbolism intriguing!

Millennium Gallery Pioneers Exhibition

We visited the new ‘Pioneers’ exhibition at the Millennium Galleries today.

The exhibition is about designers and craftspeople, particularly John Ruskin, William Morris
and the students of the Bauhaus School of Art. These designers had a common belief that
design and making can improve everyday life. They shared principles of making, community
and excellent design for everyone. The exhibition includes a range of arts and crafts objects, including furniture, textiles, wallpaper, clothing and home accessories.

Thank you to Jess from Sheffield Museums for giving us a tour.

Christmas donations for Ukraine

Scraithwood TARA knitted some lovely items for Ukraine which we arranged to send to Kyiv in time for Christmas. These included toys, socks for soldiers, jumpers, scarfs, hats and pants amongst others. The items arrived in Ukraine where they were distributed to children who have lost parents in the war and soldiers on the frontline.
