Learn for Life Enterprise was one of only two organisations chosen from over 500 community organisations across the UK to take part in the ‘Celebrating Success English My Way’ video. The video was shown last week at the BBC Broadcasting House in London and was met with a fantastic response from English My Way funders and stakeholders.

The DWELL (Designing for Well-being in Environments for Later Life) project is an architectural
design research project.
Researchers at the University of Sheffield are looking for local residents aged 50 + to get involved in developing new ideas for the future of homes and neighbourhoods in Sheffield. Participants will develop and evaluate proposals through workshops, neighbourhood walks, and other group activities. The project is a collaboration with Sheffield City Council and is led by Professor Sarah Wigglesworth. It will run until the end of 2016.
During the first year DWELL will involve groups of residents aged 50 and over in discussions and design workshops in order to develop ideas for improved housing and neighbourhoods. Participants will be involved in the development, review, and evaluation of proposals for new types of housing and age-friendly neighbourhoods for current and future generations.
The Sharrow group meetings are being held at Learn for Life Enterprise.
The next meeting will be Wednesday 29th October at 3pm.
On Thursday 9th October we welcomed the BBC to Learn for Life to run a training workshop for teachers and volunteers. We were introduced to the newly developed Learning Circles resources which we will be starting to use in our centre to help individuals learn English.
The BBC, along with the British Council and the Tinder Foundation, have developed fun, multimedia English-teaching lessons at a very low level for immigrant communities in the UK. The purpose is to help people with very little English to gain the confidence and ability to make the first step to learning English.
