A poem for the Good Things Foundation by Learn for Life

It’s not that often you can stand
At one end of a city and
See the other end with ease
Through towers, terrace blocks and trees

“I am a city picnicking, I am peaks escaping
Scraping the sky
I am home
I am home working, waking, weaving
I am that endlessly glistening Sheffield”

I feel in control, in charge
At a strategic height
You feel serene
Relief from pain and think of the good future with hope

I like the people,
She says, they’re respectful
And the view
I find
It is very very beautiful

In my heart I feel good
As I see Sheffield
With its buildings and woods.
